National Historic Marker Weekend 2026

by
Office of State History

Get outside, make a difference, and celebrate your hometown history! National Historic Marker Weekend 2026 takes place Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26!

This free, family-friendly volunteer event invites neighbors, friends, and families nationwide to clean and care for historical markers in their communities. With this year’s theme, “Your Hometown,” it’s a fun way to learn local history, give back, and spend time with the people around you. What makes your hometown history unique?

Sign up to volunteer, help beautify your neighborhood, and join this year’s photo challenge by highlighting the markers and stories that make your community special.
