Abstract | The type specimens of Drepanocladus minnesotensis Williams and Neocalliergon integrifolium Williams are shown to be D. aduncus var.kneiffii (B.S.G.) Monk. and Scorpidium scorpioides (Hedw.) Limpr., respectively. These fossils, which were originally obtained from late glacial sediments in Minneapolis, Minnesota, together with other mosses identified from the deposit, indicate that deposition probably took place in a shallow depression filled with calcareous water. Pleistocene mosses from near Bronson, Minnesota, originally namedD. minnesotensis are reidentified as D. aduncus (Hedw.) Warnst. and Calliergon giganteum (Schimp.) Kindb. |
